Winter Updates from Camp Tanuga: We've been busy!

Well helloooooooooooo, Tanuga!

We hope you all had a happy and healthy near year. The Tanuga team is excited for the 2026 season and all the memories yet to be made.

On the Ground

It is officially winter time on Manistee Lake. Camp has been covered in a blanket of snow and looks prettier than ever! We’re still accepting parties who want to rent out the lodge during the off season. If you or someone you know may be interested, please contact mike@tanuga.com

Before the snow came, Sean, Anthony, and team put in a new irrigation system around hot spots at camp. The athletic field is in desperate need of some new grass and we’re hopeful for the outcome once summer hits.

You can follow the progress via our Instagram stories!

Know someone who would be a great asset to our staff this summer?

Send them the link to our staff page and we’ll get in touch! We’re hiring for all positions and are looking for people with all different backgrounds to join our family and make your kids summer one for the books.

Tanuga Song Book

We’re creating an official Tanuga song book! If you have a favorite flagpole, messhall, campfire, etc… Please share with us. If you’re willing to write out the lyrics or just send the song title, we can do some research. If you’re feeling really funky, send a voice note so we can teach the tune and carry on the song for years to come! Send all to lindsey@tanuga.com

Alumni

Friends, friends, friends, we will always be. Alumni, we're calling on you to get involved with this new generation of camp. We’re happy to announce that we are making our alumni group more official. In the new year, the plan is to have camp meetups in different cities and allow alumni to still be able to participate in the summer fun!

If you have any questions on how to get involved  please email alumni@tanuga.com.

Help Us Keep Tanuga Magic Growing

We’re collecting updated info from alumni and families to help guide the future programming, events, and communications. If you’d like to participate, TAKE OUR SURVEY.

Tanuga Merch

We’re looking to launch some new Tanuga gear this year and want to hear from you. What sort of items would you like to see in the camp store? New designs or traditional classics? Send your ideas to lindsey@tanuga.com or DM us on Instagram!

Donations

Camp will be accepting donations of any lightly used sporting goods or Halloween costumes. Is it time to clean out your basement or garage and not sure what to do with everything? We’ll take it! Items can be mailed to camp, brought to luggage drop off or you can schedule a meet up. Please contact mike@tanuga.com to coordinate.

Spotlight

To make the newsletter more exciting, we’re now going to feature spotlights! If you’re an alumni or current camper and want to be featured in a newsletter, please email Lindsey with your name, years active, and favorite camp memory! Bonus if you have any pictures too.

Moving Forward

For future newsletters, in addition to camp updates, we’ll be discussing the benefits of overnight camp on mental and physical health. The goal is to dive deeper into the unplugged world and how it can create independence, resilience, and a whole lot of memories. Stay tuned!

Got Memories?

Hi Tanuga families! I’m Lindsey and I’ll be writing the newsletters and helping out with social media. I have been the girls Unit Director the past two summers at Tanuga. I was a counselor, worked in the store, was a camper for eight summers, and went to family camp for nine years. What I’m saying is, Tanuga is my life! I’m asking for your help with supplying me with photos, videos, letters, and stories that you’re willing to share on the internet! I can offer things from my experiences but camp means something different to all of us and I’d love to know about your memories and what it means to you! Please send ANYTHING to my email and I’ll be in touch with any questions or comments. Looking forward to hearing all about your Tanuga memories. Please send to lindsey@tanuga.com
